Long Term Care Nurse (Days)
SUMMARY

The Long Term Care Nurse (RN/LPN) provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to the ill, injured, convalescing, and disabled residents in all areas of Heritage of Webster County. They coordinate total nursing care for the residents, participate in resident and care giver education, maintain standards for professional nursing practice, and provide leadership by working cooperatively with the health care team at Heritage of Webster County.

This position complies with department and organization-wide policies, long-term care facility requirements, safety, and infection control, and all Federal and State of Nebraska regulations related to the performance of Heritage of Webster County operations and requirements of the compliance program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops, coordinates, and implements comprehensive resident care plans with medical and clinical staff.

Administers medications, performs vital sign checks and medical procedures, and provides therapeutic treatments such as range-of-motion exercises and massage.

Operates medical equipment, monitors and assesses resident status, and records resident information in medical records.
Assists residents with daily tasks such as bathing and dressing.

Communicates changes in resident behavior or health status to supervisors and family members.

Offers education, emotional support, and guidance for residents, families, and caregivers.

Builds long-term relationships with residents and caregivers.

Possesses strong observation and assessment skills, and patience working in stressful conditions.

Utilizes proper body mechanics, transfer/lifting techniques and appropriate equipment to minimize fall risk to resident and injury to self.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Degree from accredited nursing program.

Experience in long-term care setting is preferred but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

Current Registered Nurse/LPN License from the State of Nebraska.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
